Sen. Bongbong Marcos, Guest Speaker at LSPU

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. attended the "Engineering Seminar and Forum" last Tuesday, January 12, held at the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) in Sta. Cruz.

The senator was at the event as a guest speaker and answered questions from students. Perhaps the most notable of these questions was about the revival of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP).

According to Senator Marcos, he would back the revival of the BNPP as long as three conditions were met. He stated, "The cost of power must be reduced, power supply will stabilize and it will not contribute to the destruction of the environment."

Construction of the power plant started in 1976 in Morong, Bataan, and was completed in 1984 under the administration of the senator's father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. However, operations never began and the plant was mothballed in 1986 because of rising safety concerns especially after the Chernobyl incident that occured in April of that year.

“Kailangan pag-aralan natin mabuti. Kailangang desisyunan at seryoso ang pamahalaan na tingnan kung talagang maaari pang gamitin ang Bataan Nuclear Power Plant. Kung maaari pang gamitin, gawin na natin,” said Senator Marcos.

The senator is running for Vice President in the upcoming elections this 2016.

 

Woman Shot Dead in Victoria

A woman was shot dead in Victoria, Laguna after being shot twice in the chest on the night of January 14 by her former live-in partner.

According to local police reports, the incident occured during an altercation between the two about getting back together. The victim was threatened with a gun, and was shot after trying to wrestle it away from the suspect.

The victim was identified as Leny Balayong, and was rushed to the hospital after the incident but was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the suspect - identified as Efren Lirasan, had fled the scene.

Balayong was 48-years old.

Los Baños 4th Most Wanted Arrested

The fourth most wanted person in Los Baños has been caught by police officials. The suspect has been identified as 43-year old Albert de Castro, and is being charged with the rape slay of an 8-year old victim in Barangay San Antonio, Los Baños last December 2014. The suspect was linked to the crime due to a necklace found at the scene.

According to Los Baños Police Chief Superintendent Romeo Desiderio, the victim was repeatedly hit in the head after being raped. De Castro is also suspected in the attempted rape of a grade 9 student this past Christmas Eve.

Aside from multiple rape cases, the suspect is also known to be part of a local robbery and carnapping group. De Castro has since denied all allegations.

Japanese Royalty Coming To Laguna

Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko will be coming to the Philippines in a 5-day state visit this month. According to Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., the emperor and empress will be arriving in the Philippines on January 26, and are scheduled to visit Calirya and Los Baños on January 29. Coloma had this to say about the visit:

"The Philippines is pleased to welcome Their Majesties, the Emperor and Empress of Japan, to a State Visit to the Philippines on 26 to 30 January 2016. Their Majesties’ State Visit is a major highlight and fitting start to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations of the Philippines and Japan in 2015."

The  Philipppines has strong ties with Japan, as Japan is one of the top sources of foreign investments in this country. This will be Their Majesties' first time in the Philippines since their visit in 1962 as crown prince and princess.

Nabiktima Ka Na Ba Ng Cyberbullying?

Sa panahon ngayon, ito ang mga nangyayari sa mga taong walang kalaban laban na kunahin ang kanilang mga larawan o video mula sa mga social media sites tulad ng Facebook. Talamak na talamak na ito dahil sa laki ng mundo ng teknolohiya. Maari ka nilang purihin, alpustain, lagyan ng mga sari-sari mga komento na wala naman kabuluhan sa iyong larawan na mababasa ng buong mundo. Hindi ba nila alam na ito ay naisabatas na? Ayun sa Republic Act 10627:

" Any person found guilty of Bullying shall be punished with the penalties as enumerated in Republic Act No. 10627 or the “Anti-Bullying Act of 2013”: Provided, that the penalty to be imposed shall be one (1) degree higher than that provided for in Republic Act No. 10627, if committed through a computer system."

Malimit itong mangyari sa mga artista na madaming tao ang nakasubaybay. Bina-bash ng mga taong walang magawa sa buhay, at maari din itong gawin sa pangkaraniwang tao na tulad ko, biktima ng cyberbullying. Kahit gaano man ka pribado ang iyong account sa social media magagawa parin nilang makuha ang iyong mga larawan at makapang bikitima sa kanilang kapwa.

Nakakalungkot isipin na may taong mga ganyan. Feeling ko tuloy ay isa akong artista at sila ang mga fans ko bilang haters. Kahit wala kang ginagawang masama sa kanila at patuloy ka pa din nilang aalipustain na akala mo’y sila lang ang perpekto sa mundo. Ayon sa  aklat ng Bagong Tipan sa aklat ni apostol Santiago kabanata 3 talataang 5 hangang 10:

“Ganyan din ang dila ng tao. Kay liit liit na bahagi ng katawan ngunti malaki ang nalilikhang kayabangan. Isipin lamang ninyo! Napalagabgab ngb isang maliit na apoy ang isang malawak na kagubatan! Ang dila ay isang apoy, isang daigdigng kasamaang nakakahawa sa ating buong katawan. Mula sa impierno ang apoy nito at pinag-aapoy ang lahat ng buhay ng tao. Lahat ng uri ng tao o hayop na lumalakad o gumagapang o nakatira sa tubig ay kayang supilin at talagang nasusupil ng tao. Ngunit walang makasupil sa dila. Ito’y puno ng kamandag na nakakamatay. K-Pop Cover Group "GEMS" Performs at K-Pop Coalesce 2

Award winning K-Pop cover group "GEMS" had a special guest appearance at K-Pop Coalesce 2, held in the St. Mary's College Auditorium in Quezon City on January 10. Their performance can be seen in the video below. One of their members, Ria Garcia, is a native of Paete, Laguna, and can be seen making her entrance at the 1:27 mark from the left side.

Other members of the popular group include Krissha Viaje, Crystal Enriquez, Karla Lining, Roched Bustamante, Lesie Layague, and Donna Trajano.

OPLAN Lambat Sibat Seminar, Isinagawa ng Nagcarlan PNP

NAGCARLAN LAGUNA - Upang mas lalong tumatag ang ugnayan ng kapulisan sa mga mamamayan, nagsagawa ng isang pagsasanay sa mga Brgy. Chairman, Hepe ng Brgy. Tanod at miyembro ng Peace and Order Council. Ito ay para sa mga OPLAN Lambat/Sibat Volunteer na pinangunahan ni PCIns. Leopoldo M. Ferrer Jr., hepe ng bayan nito. Bilang pagtugon sa pagsugpo sa iligal na mga gawain at krimen na paiigtingin ngayon ni Laguna OIC Provincial Director PSSupt. Ronnie S. Montejo.

Tinalakay dito ang mahahalagang paraan upang mabilis na makaresponde sa mga tawag ng katungkulan, partikular sa kanilang mga nasasakupan. Kasamang ibinahagi ang mga programang ilalatag ng Nagcarlan MPS ay ang "Complan Listo", D.A.R.E. Ko Teacher Ko, Tulong Dunong at Mobile Eskwela, na siyang tutugon sa kaalamang edukasyon para sa mga bata.

Ayon kay CIns. Ferrer Jr., layunin ng pagsasanay na ito na matugunan at mabigyan ng mataas na kalidad ng kapayapaan at katahimikan ang pamayanan at mabawasan at maiwasan ang krimen sa lipunan. Habang katuwang ang mga miyembro ng OPLAN Lambat/Sibat volunteers na magiging mata ng kapayapaan sa bayan ng Nagcarlan.

Makaraan ang talakayan na pinangunahan nila DCOP PIns.Carlos L.Tagbo Jr., SPO3 Ronan Bulahan at SPO3 Bernardino Artisen ay nagkaroon ng open forum sa pagitan ng mga dumalo. Kaugnay sa tamang pag-aresto, pagbibigay ng tamang impormasyon sa may kinauukulan para sa daglian pagresponde sa mga insidente.

Samantalang personal namang ipinakita ni CIns.Ferrer sa inyong lingkod ang pagsasa-ayos ng buo nilang pasilidad, partikular ang maayos na nila ngayon barracks o tulugan ng mga miembro ng kapulisan, ang pag-angkat ng apat na brand new computer unit na siyang magagamit sa pagse-serbisyo sa publiko, at maging ang mga bago din nilang mga uniform. Aniya, malaking tulong ito sa kanyang mga officers sapagkat "Kung maayos ang kapaligiran at kalusugan, ay maayos din nilang mapaglilingkuran ang pamayanan".
